Our Meyer study group is an open discussion-centered class based on interpretation of Joachim Meyer’s 1570 and 1568 fencing treatises. Class will examine plays and concepts from the texts and directly apply them to light drilling and fencing.
When and where:
Mondays from 7:00pm to 9:00pm at the Multnomah Arts Center covered basketball courts.
This class is primarily a study group format, and knowledge of fencing fundamentals is required. Light gear (Mask, gloves, gorget) is required for this class. Full gear (fencing jacket, hard joint, arm and leg protection) may be needed for full participation.
About the instructor:
Anthony “Rabbit” Zavin has been involved in HEMA for 10 years, and previously studied Tae-Kwon-Do. He is an IFG board member and instructor with knowledge and experience in longsword, messer, saber, rapier and other weapons. He has competed in several states as well as internationally in Canada.
